About Me

This is me, The Rat...partner since 2001 to Concrete_Man, mum to Rat_Girl (born 13.12.05) and Rat_Boy (born 14.05.09). Co-inhabiting our nest are 2 rather large fury 4 legged rats, Boxer_Dog and Black_Dog. We run a business from the nest with Concrete_Man doing the manly physical work while I stay at home and do the 'other' stuff. This means we are often busy, often stressed and often very tired...but then again who isn't! Anyway that's enough for now. As time goes by you will learn a bit more about the family that is "MummaRat's Nest"

Weigh in time again

I've been a bit quite with my posts lately, I've just be a bit busy and have had trouble keeping up.

So at weigh in on Monday the results were

LW 99.8kg
TW 99.4kgs

Loss 400gr.

I can't quite understand how I only lost 400 grams.  Generally I'm never disappointed about weight loss no matter how small, a loss is a loss as far as I"m concerned.  But honestly the past week I have work very very hard (check out my exercise efforts) and honestly thought I would see a better result.

However to shine a more positive light on things, they did a body analysis for me and according to that I have gained about 2kgs of muscle since the start of this challenge.  And my body fat percentage has dropped.  I did a quick calcuation with my body fat percentage and worked out (not sure if it's accurate) that I have lost 5kgs of body fat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So even though since the start of the challenge the scales are only showing a 2.8kg loss overall...I've actually dropped 5kgs of fat and gained a bit of muscle.  It's much better when you think of it like that.

Replacing 1 drug with another

Sounds crazy doesn't it, why would you do that.

But honestly it works!

See to me chocolate is a drug, food is a drug it soothes me it calms me it makes me feel high and I crave that feeling.

I've always known another drug that will give me this same feeling, it's just it takes a little more effort and sometimes I couldn't be bothered giving then little more effort.  It's true sometimes it's just easier to drive to the shop (which costs fuel) buy chocolate (which again costs money) and scoff it down in the car before I get home...see quick fix!  But does it last, no it doesn't before I know it I'm down really really way down, even further down than I was before.

So what happens when I decide to put in that little extra effort and replace chocolate with a different drug, a drug called exercise....well not only does it give me that same high it lasts longer.  The last 2 nights I've thrown myself into exercise at night (instead of food) and when I wake the next morning I'm still on a high.  But not just that, it's cheaper I didn't even have to leave the house! And even better it's going to make me fitter, healthier, slimmer, it's setting a good example for my children, it's helping me keep up with my children, it's reducing my risk of certain disease and that is just the start.

And really when I think about it and when I actually do it, it's not that much effort, all I really have to do is put on some shoes.

So the last couple of nights, my drug of choice has been my Wii EA Active sports trainer, I've restarted my 30day challenge (will fill you in on that more as I get further into it) my ab king pro (gotta build up those core muscles that were ruined when I carried a baby elephant for 9months) and my treadmil (oh how I love to run on thee!!!).  Really with the combination of these 3 anything else above and beyond that is just an absolute bonus!!!

What gets you high?????

And the verdict is.....

Well well well weigh in time.

But first, the last week.

Exercise wise, I did ok you can read all about it at Fit Friday since Friday, I had Saturday off and Sunday I had an early morning walk planned for the Red Arrow.  We got there, walked from our parking spot (which in itself is a decent walk there and back) we started the red arrow and were almost at the BIG stairs where all the hard work starts but my walking partner slipped and hurt her ankle.  Thankfully not serious but enough to make it difficult to go forward so we turned back.  But hey exercise is exercise right.

Though it kind of continued through to this morning.  The rats and I were all packed and fed and ready to head to the lagoon AND we were early.  So in the car we get only to find out a set of traffic lights on the highway are not working and traffic is backed up.  Took me 40mins to get 10k down the road and by that time the clas had already started and they were alreayd 10mins in so there wasw no way I was making it.  ah well can't help that.

Food wise, it has not been so good.  It's that time once a month where all I want to do it eat eat eat.  Thankfully I didn't do too much but I know I had more snacks than I should have, plus ofcourse those cherry ripes!  This week though I'm going to give it my all and get the eating under control.

So the weigh in verdict....

Last week 100.1kg, this week 99.8kg, yes yes only 300grm but OMG what an amazing feeling to be in double figures!!!

Now we still have 8 weeks of challenge to go, do you think it's possible I could get down to the 90's?  I don't think so, but I'm going to work hard and see just what I can achieve.

Why is it

That addictions to things like alcohol, drugs and nicotine are recognised but when it comes to a food addiction you are just considered a glutton.

I have serious issues with food, namely chocolate.  Eating chocolate makes me seriously ill, I get stomach craps like there is no tomorrow and I'll end up spending the next 24hours in the toilet.  But does that stop me NO.

It's not that I just have a little here or there, at my bad times I could eat half a kilo in 1 sitting everyday...that is no exaggeration.  Sometimes it's all I think about, it comsumes me and once I start I just can't stop, it's ugly too because I will just shove it in my mouth and I'll even hide so no one can see me.

It's not just the addiction though, chocolate has an instant calming affect over me so when I'm having 'moments' I feel as though I can't calm down and I can't cope unless I eat it.

So today when I purchased some ingredient for Rat_girl to make biscuits with (cherry ripes) they never made it to the biscuits.  I had no intention of eating them...but then I had a 'moment' a major anxiety attack, over what I have no idea, but I couldn't stand the sight or sound of my kids or my partner and all I wanted was chocolate.

Without a breath the cherry ripes (2 king size ones) were gone and I was sitting in my room crying.

When I told conrete_man he just shook his head and had nothing to say except "just don't eat it, you know what it does to you" to which I replied "just stop smoking you know it causes cancer" ..........."it's not the same thing" he says.  Well I say it is!!

Tonights weigh in and catch up on the last week

Well I've certainly been pounding the exercise this last week!!!

Tuesday 1hour Wii Fit
Wednesday Mums and Bubs walk and circuit along the water front, plus some Wii Yoga as my muscles were very very sore!
Thursday 40min Wii Fit
Friday 1hr Wii
Saturday Rested, needed it!!!!
Sunday OMG 2 hours of lawn mowing.  I could not move after.  I was almost in tears by the time I finished and I didn't finish I made concrete_man finish it.
Monday Back down the lagoon for Mums and Bubs in the water.  Lunges were heaps fun with Rat_girl on my back while I was holding the Rat_boy.  I'd carry him and drag her through the water.  I did leave them on the shore with the trainer once while I swam across the lagoon and back ...the whole time thinking and possibly wishing I would die!

Food.  I have to be completely honest and admit some slip ups this week.  There was Australia Day when I had some of the laminton balls and possibly too much pie...but my god it was all so yum

And I have to be even more honest to say I had chocolate this week, tim tams to be exact.  They were left at my house after a craft night and I think I have about 5 or 6 in total, and a couple little mini blueberry muffins..which I'm told her low fat.

HOWEVER...the rest of the time I was very good.  Even starting to learn to pack snacks with me wherever I go incase I get hungry.

Soooooooooooooooooooo for the big news, now if you did read my ticker up the top, just pretend you didn't.

Last weeks weight 101.7kgs, this weeks weight 100.1kg a loss of 1.6kgs OMG!  AND only 200grams off double figures....AND my BMI is dropping, I moved down a point and am now in the 34's.

Seriously excited.

So now all I care about losing this week is 200g!  Next goal I guess is a 10kg loss...I'm on my way YAY!!!
