About Me

This is me, The Rat...partner since 2001 to Concrete_Man, mum to Rat_Girl (born 13.12.05) and Rat_Boy (born 14.05.09). Co-inhabiting our nest are 2 rather large fury 4 legged rats, Boxer_Dog and Black_Dog. We run a business from the nest with Concrete_Man doing the manly physical work while I stay at home and do the 'other' stuff. This means we are often busy, often stressed and often very tired...but then again who isn't! Anyway that's enough for now. As time goes by you will learn a bit more about the family that is "MummaRat's Nest"

Working on the new me

Ok so in the last post, with my progress shots, I said I would explain just why I was holding the TV week.

www.12wbt.com.au is why

I signed up with Michelle Bridges 12 week body transformation.  I had been following Michelle's work out guidelines and meal plans in her Crunchtime book for signing up and found that it was just what my body needed, after plateauing for what seem liked forever, all of a sudden the scales were moving down and with little fuss and effort and only small changes from what I was doing.  It was just what I needed.

So I signed up and really wasn't sure what I was getting myself into and wasn't even sure I would see it through, but here we are start of week 5 and so far so good.

My first officially weigh in was a little bit before the progress photo below and was 89.6kgs, so far I have lost 4.4kgs with weigh in to come tomorrow.  I have also lost another 4cm from my waist, 4.5cm from my hips and 1cm from each thigh and chest (thankfully the losses here are getting smaller!!)

It's been very easy to keep up with the program so far.  Though this weekend was the first blowout weekend I've had in a long time where I ate things I shouldn't have.  But in comparison to previous blow outs, it was pretty tame.  It was also enough to give me a kick in the pants and get back on track.

How the whole thing works is, each week I am given a menu plan for the week (very easy to follow and not too involved) along with my recipes (again simple) and my work out schedule (not so easy!!).  I follow as close as I can.  At the moment I'm doing most group fitness with a few of Michelle's outdoor works outs thrown in, which are tough!  But soon I'll be moving away from the group fitness and working on pushing myself by myself and doing Michelle's workouts in the gym at 530am each morning.  I'm hoping this gives me another little push to get under the 80kg mark!  And also give me a feeling of pride knowing that I did it...me and my heart rater monitor.

So that is it, that is what I'm doing.  It's no crash diet, it's nothing silly just eating better (not perfect) and exercising as much as I can and getting the most out of each work out.

I might try for another progress shot and post soon.

love Rat xo

Latest Challenge Wrap up...

We had our final weigh in this week for this challenge..YAY 12 weeks completed.

I have to say I am most proud that I stuck it out for the 12 weeks as by the end of this challenge there were only 3 of us left, the rest bowed out!  Which is a bit bitter sweet, it means I'm in the running for a prize, but kind of defeats the purpose as I know I could have probably worked harder and lost more.  That's not to say I'm not happy with my efforts, because I really am.  I'm just saying with more compettiors comes more of a challenge.

Now I don't know yet who came where, we find that out tomorrow at the gym...so I'll update you on that then.

So the final results, and I can't find my file so I can't tell you my final measurements.

But....

Weight
LW 95.9kgs TW 95.3kgs
loss 600grams
Total loss over 12 weeks 6.9kgs 6.75%

total CM loss over 12 weeks 30cms.

The most exciting part about the CMS and the only measurement I can remember is my waist...my waist is 100cm....which means just about double figures!!! WOOT WOOT!

I'll work on getting some more updated photos soon.

Also I'm going to post up soon, just what I've been doing, diet and exercise wise to get to where I am.

There is no rest, next challenge starts this week.  I can be a little relaxed this week as it's a new starting weight, but I don't want to be too relaxed!!!

Weigh In update and my half way photos (better late than never)

Ok first up apologies for not being around so much and for being so late with my half way photos....it's the last weigh in next week so firgured I better get them up.

But first a catch up on weight loss stats.

week 7 - 97.5 kgs
week 8 - 97.5kgs no loss
week 9 - no weigh in this week, hat a sick little boy rat
week 10 - 97.1kgs 400grm loss
week 11 - 95.9kgs 1.2kg loss

Woot it's coming off, slowly but surely and I'm doing it at a rate that I can keep up with.  Nothing unreasonable nothing biggest loserish...but hey I'm not on the biggest loser I'm in the real world.  So I'm happy with what I'm doing.

Anyway so here are some half way photos. This would be me at about 98kgs so only about 4kgs lighter than the before photos here, and just for comparison sake I have put my underwear photos back up OMG they are awful, they won't stay though.

So here we are *deep breath*...

Personally, looking at them I don't see a ldifference just yet.

Underwear photos will be gone again soon.....

Weigh in

I've been having some slow weeks only losing 400grams at a time after working my butt off all week leading up to.

So you can imagine how exicted I was to weigh in tonight!!!!

LW 99kg
TW 97.5kg

YAY 1.5kg loss this week...so far I've lost 10.5 kgs since I started the first challenge in Nov, yes I've now lost over 10kgs, which is another goal reached.  The next goal was 10% of my starting weight so I'm only 300grams off that also.

Oh and check out my ticker I'm down another BMI point.

It's funny the only thing I did different this week, was eat a little more.  I've started having supper at night as I generally eat dinner 530/600pm and don't go to bed until 1030pm and when I wake in the morning I am that hungry that I am shaking and I struggle to get out of bed as I have no energy.  And I've made my snacks between meals a little more substantial.  I think I was starving myself, it seems to have worked anyway.  So I'll keep up with it this week.
